Our goal for our first trip was to implement our educational projects, establish contacts in person for throughout the year, and survey to identify crucial long term needs. We surveyed and met with multiple people including nurses at the health clinic, women from the Dalit community, and teachers in the Murikipudi school to understand target areas for our projects.
In computer literacy, we implemented an introductory workshop on basic computer skills for the students including using the trackpad and typing. After realizing that girls' computer literacy was an unmet need, we established a girls' computer literacy program.
In financial literacy, we taught primary school kids the importance of saving and budgeting through a series of games where they managed their own "money" and participation.
Our reproductive health workshop focused on promoting conversations around menstruation and menstrual hygiene with tenth class girls
In vocational skills, we conducted a workshop with the students to discuss various career pathways and had a survey that allowed them to identify possible career paths based on their interests.
